Bio

Hi there. I'm Craig Stoltz, a freelance journalist writing about food, drink, and travel. I've been a journalist for over 30 years. I've been eating, drinking, and traveling my whole life.

I was editor of The Washington Post's travel section for nine glorious years. We published some of the great travel stories of the day. My articles on places ranging from Moscow to Cleveland have been widely republished.

I've written for dozens of Washington and national publications over the years, including Esquire, GQ, Saturday Review, Washingtonian, and USA Weekend. I've written about Congress, movie stars, and wild-game dinners. Time.com ranked my technology blog among the top 25 in the U.S. My cocktail blog, A Measured Spirit, was often picked up by Liquor.com.

I'm a foodie who cooks, a wine geek who's not a jerk, and a cocktail nerd who knows his way around a mixing glass.

My lovely wife and I take e-biking vacations around the world. On weekends we explore the mid-Atlantic's wineries, restaurants, distilleries, parks, B&Bs, and other places we're lucky to enjoy. We love road trips. We eat out a lot.

Back when our kids were small, I co-authored a guidebook of things to do in Washington, D.C. called Kid-o-Rama.

My lovely wife says I am now doing Adult-o-Rama.

I gotta say, as in most things, she is right.
